Publisher Description

A chilling vampire horror anthology featuring original short stories from New York Times bestselling and award-winning authors—including Charlaine Harris (whose novels inspired HBO’s True Blood) and Scott Smith, in his first published fiction since The Ruins.

Before vampires became romantic antiheroes, they were creatures of shadow and blood. In this terrifying collection, some of the biggest names in horror and dark fantasy restore the vampire to its rightful place as a monster to be feared. Edited by New York Times bestselling author Christopher Golden, Seize the Night gathers all-new, blood-curdling tales from Charlaine Harris, John Ajvide Lindqvist (Let the Right One In), Scott Smith, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kelley Armstrong, Brian Keene, Seanan McGuire, Tim Lebbon, David Wellington, and more.

From ancient legends and gothic nightmares to modern-day urban horror, these stories span folklore, myth, and visceral contemporary terror. Dark, unsettling, and relentlessly suspenseful, Seize the Night is essential reading for fans of classic vampire fiction, gothic horror, and supernatural thrillers.

“As is often the case for me, grading short story collections can be a bit tough because some of these stories I absolutely loved and wish they were full novels. While I enjoyed the rest of the stories I think they do end up bringing down the overall rating of this book to 4 stars which is still very good all things considered. I appreciated all the different tales and perspectives on vampires. This collection never felt stale or like it kept treading the same ground. Each author brought a unique perspective and style to their story which is quite a challenge considering how many vampire stories there are! Some personal favorites include ‘On The Dark Side of Sunlight Basin’ ‘The Neighbors’ ‘Paper Cuts’ ‘Direct Report’ ‘Mother’ and ‘Separator’.”
