“I called the ending back in chapter 8, but the read still had many unique twists.
Despite some odd plot holes—like how in modern times both Sylvie and Amy had not seen recent photos of their family in Europe, the book tackled what it’s like for an eldest daughter and third culture kid in an immigrant household with a sense of raw honesty.
Sylvie travels back to the country she was raised in at the request of her dying grandmother only to disappear. This prompts her timid sister Amy to come looking for her. In doing so Amy will uncover the truth about her sister and entire family.”About Jean Kwok
