Publisher Description

Three days is all it took for everyone I love to die.

The fall from grace hurt.

I was one of the few specialist snipers in the military who is a woman. I made a name for myself. Set records.

But death has a way of changing everyone.

The descent from Special Forces, to dirty fighting pits, to becoming a bodyguard for the man whose heart I broke, I never thought I’d stop drowning.

One night is all it took for everything to change.

One shot is all I need.

My name is Zalak Bahtia. They call me Scorpion.

Scorpion (The Exodus Series Book 1) Reviews

“-The playlist, authors note, trigger warnings and dedication are already getting me more involved in this book so hopefully its not a setup for disaster 😅 thanks for the pronunciation as well of the names! -Ok well that is pretty intense for the beginning of a book as a prologue and first chapter 😅 wow... -Not sure if its going to get confusing or what but this back and forth between time is not easy to follow if there are 2 povs... I hope I'm wrong or that its just because you need a set up for the plot but I think im going to get annoyed real fast if it goes back and forth between time when you just see the same interaction but from the others pov... -I happy this guy realizes hes a love sick puppy because for fucks sakes get it together... he's been keeping tabs on her and had her clothes in her closet all this time... i can understand wanti g to learn how to cook her favorite dish but dude come on now the rest is a bit much... but im glade he sees it 😅 -I feel like its already a few times that the Exodus is mentioned yet there's zero explanation... i know there was a warning but maybe a bit more information on this would be helpful... -I have to admit this girl sounds really bad ass the way she talks about using a sniper! -I'm surprised to say this but I don't really like his pov.... i get that he's in love with her but its like the interactions between them in these moments are not that useful to the story... -I know there was a trigger warnings but are you kidding me?! Having sex WITH the sniper in her hands..... wow and obviously she made the shoot 🙄 -Now she's the one to over react when asked to accompany him for a date (but even i knew it was her the date)... you're supposed to be a bad ass bitch and I know even bad ass bitches have feelings but really?! You let the bad thoughts take over girl! -WTF im getting flash backs from "Lights Out" when they fucked with the knife.... why is this a thing??? I also don't get why this book has sections of "nothing" and then all action, then nothing again... -Of course he wants her to join this secret society (which thankfully we get a tad more info about) and she has to fight in a fighting ring AGIAN... I'm surprised they didn't give her a more difficult person to fight though... Also why did Godchild kidnapp him?! That's to tacky and makes no sense since all Godchild wants is to take over the business... besides the guy just got engaged for crying out loud (doesn't surprise me that it happened after the fight was over tbh)... plus doesn't supeise me that she got the kill and pased her own record for the shoot. -What a way to end the book and what an epilogue!!!! Thank god she put the warnings because this really isnt about a bunch of world building or character development necessarily... just a quick somewhat fast pace story with sex sprinkled in... i mean damn good for her that she's still able to use a sniper while pregnant but like why bring up the fact that its her brother's building?! Is this supposed to be an intro to the next book? Too many questions....”
“4.5⭐️ You know that I LOVE myself a bad ass FMC 🙌 and while second chance is not my favorite, I still ate this one up. For being only 200-something pages, the character development in this was honestly pretty amazing, although of course I would have LOVED to have more! We spend a lot of time in her POV, and being inside her head is heartbreaking at times. Between her childhood and the nasty things her mother said to her, to her military PTSD constantly pulling her under, you can’t help but have your heart ripped out for her. But then there’s Mathijs. 😭 He was so intelligent, fucking adorable, and slightly manipulative - but in the best way 🤪 He just got her. He knew exactly what her triggers were, how to help her through them, and would literally do anything just to hear her laugh again. I absolutely adored him. My only complaint is that I wish we’d gotten a little more from his POV. He was an interesting character, and I would’ve loved to spend more time inside his head, but all in all - amazing quick standalone read ❤️ MMC: Mathijs Halenbeek FMC: Zalak ❤️Tropes: second chance romance, badass Special Ops FMC, she’s his bodyguard, reverse grumpy sunshine, obsessed MMC, 🔫 play scene 💁POV: dual, first person 🖤Darkness level: 3/5 🔥Spice starts at 57% 🌶️Spice: 2/5 📚Plot: 4/5 🌎World building: 3.5/5 ⚠️Triggers: verbally abusive parents, parental and sibling death, violence, murder, military PTSD, attempted suicide”
