“Rule of Extinction by Geoff Jones launches a high-stakes, emotionally charged sci-fi survival saga that begins just days before a cataclysmic comet is set to strike Earth. As panic spreads, mysterious white pods descend from the sky, offering a cryptic escape, but only to those who dare to enter.
The story centers on David Williams, a devoted father who makes the agonizing decision to leave his wife behind in order to save his children and their loyal dog. When they awaken in a strange, alien wilderness, they discover they’re not alone, other survivors have also arrived, each with their own secrets, traumas, and agendas. The new world is lush, dangerous, and teeming with prehistoric creatures, forcing the group to navigate both external threats and internal tensions.
As the survivors struggle to understand their environment, they begin to suspect that their arrival was no accident. The pods, the creatures, and the timing of the comet all point to a larger, possibly extraterrestrial design. David must lead his fractured group while grappling with guilt, loss, and the primal drive to protect his family.
Appreciated the premise but found the execution reminiscent of familiar sci-fi programs comparing it to Lost and other “stranded on an island” scenarios.
Enjoyed the book, right up my alley, easy read, 31/2 to 4 stars, hopefully, the next books will be as good.”
