Roses of May (The Collector, #2) by Dot Hutchison digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Four months after the explosion at the Garden, a place where young women known as the Butterflies were kept captive, FBI agents Brandon Eddison, Victor Hanoverian, and Mercedes Ramirez are still entrenched in the aftermath, helping survivors in the process of adjusting to life on the outside. With winter coming to an end, the Butterflies have longer, warmer days of healing ahead. But for the agents, the impending thaw means one gruesome thing: a chilling guarantee that somewhere in the country, another young woman will turn up dead in a church with her throat slit and her body surrounded by flowers.

Priya Sravasti’s sister fell victim to the killer years ago. Now she and her mother move every few months, hoping for a new beginning. But when she ends up in the madman’s crosshairs, the hunt takes on new urgency. Only with Priya’s help can the killer be found—but will her desperate hope for closure compel her to put her very life on the line?

Slightly Smiling Face“It was very well written, but it didn’t grip me like The Butterfly Garden did. This story was more of a clichéd story about a stalker/serial killer, potential victim and a detective. It didn’t have as much of the suspense and intrigue of the first book. I’m a bit disappointed if I’m honest. I absolutely loved the first book and I had high expectations for the second but it didn’t deliver in the way I wanted. It was excellent in and of itself, though I found it more of an interconnected standalone than a traditional sequel. Each book in the rest of the series after the first book is largely from the perspectives of the detectives as they investigate cases in some way related to The Butterflies/The Butterfly Garden. Nevertheless, Priya was my kind of girl: sarcastic, jaded, intelligent and blunt almost to the point of being rude. I enjoyed getting to understand Edison a little more, the relationship between the Inara, Bliss, Vic and Priya and the continuing investigation into The Butterfly Gardener. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ No spice.”
