Rogue to the Rescue Reviews

“Very short and sweet romance, very light and perfect for a simlpe bedtime story”
“Rogue to the Rescue by Jane Charles is a charming, fast paced, second chance Regency romance. Throw in a little suspense and atmospheric tension, and it’s a book you’ll read within an afternoon. Lady Victoria Westbrook and Mr. Benedick Valentine (a rogue with a protective streak) first fell passionately in love during a masked encounter, where anonymity allowed their hearts to connect freely. But the moment the masks came off and their true identities and circumstances were revealed, everything shattered…..leaving old wounds, pride, and misunderstandings in its wake. Now, with Victoria facing genuine danger from an unknown threat, fate (and perhaps a bit of necessity) throws them back together. Benedick is the only one positioned to protect her, and as a fierce storm brews outside, trapping them in close quarters, the sparks of their former passion begin to reignite. The lingering hurt, rekindled desire, protective instincts clashing with past betrayals, and the question of whether trust can be rebuilt before it’s too late! What works especially well is the forced proximity amplified by the weather, creating an intimate, candlelit intensity that heightens every glance, argument, and touch. The author balances the romance nicely with just enough suspense to keep the pages turning, without letting the danger overshadow the central love story. Victoria is spirited yet vulnerable, while Benedick embodies the classic protective rogue with a heart beneath the rakish exterior. Their banter carries both heat and heart. The steam level is satisfying for a shorter novella, sensual and emotional without being overly explicit, fitting perfectly for readers who enjoy tender, passionate Regency love scenes. If you love second chance romances, masquerade ball origins, bodyguard like protection, storm trapped forced proximity, and a dash of peril in a traditional Regency setting, this one is a delightful escape. It’s sweet with a bite of angst, romantic with a touch of danger.
It’s a cozy, engaging read perfect for a rainy afternoon or a quick historical fix. It reminds me why I keep coming back to well crafted Regency novellas, comforting, steamy, and thoroughly satisfying. I’d happily pick up more from this author. Highly recommended for fans of second chance love stories with a protective hero and a resilient heroine. 🦋”

About Jane Charles

Jane Charles has lived in the Midwest her entire life. As a child she would more likely be found outside with a baseball than a book in her hand. In fact, Jane hated reading until she was sixteen. Out of boredom on a long road trip she borrowed her older sister’s historical romance and fell in love with reading. She long ago lost count of how many fiction novels she has read over the years and her love for them never died.  Along with romance she has a passion for history and the two soon combined when she penned her first historical romance.  What turned into a hobby became a passion, which has been fully supported by her husband, three children and three cats.
