Publisher Description

Getting the flu for her seventeenth birthday wasn't exactly the gift Jenna Morgan was hoping for. It means no party, no friends, and no fun. But when she recovers, Jenna feels better than well, she feels changed. And when her mom takes her to the local flea market, something they both love, it's almost enough to make Jenna forget the haunting dreams she's been having of two faceless boys on a distant beach, each one beckoning her to come with him.

Then, a strange man at the market gifts Jenna a pendant, and her mom freaks out. She drags Jenna home and suddenly announces they're moving to Georgia.

Jenna knows they're on the run from someone or something, but she doesn't know what. And she'll lose much more than her normal life and her senior year before she finds out why both angels and demons are hunting her.

“I was sent this book from the author for an honest review. This book is a DNF for many reasons. My biggest problem with this book is how obvious everything is and not to mention the stereotypes. The female characters are whiny and bitchy, often portrayed as weak. While the guys are all strong, knows everything, and somehow better than everyone else. This book made me very frustrated at the lack of strong female characters and POC's. Another thing, along the lines of stereotypes, was the fall for a guy in one day thing. It was more than one day- definitely less than half a week, that's for sure. As a female, and I know other girl's feel the same about this, IT'S NOT A THING THAT GIRLS GO AROUND LIKING EVERY GUY THEY MEET. It's annoying and degrading. Not something I want to read in a book/be promoted by a book. And the possibility of a love triangle. As I didn't finish the book, I can't say whether there was one or not, but I had a feeling there was going to be one. A YA troupe that everyone wants gone is love triangles. Especially in situations where it's one girl and two guys, it's a huge put down to the large female audience and basically tells girls they have to like every guy they meet. The last thing I'd like to point out was the lack of character voice diversity. Every young teenage girl had the same language and mannerisms. Every guy spoke the same. Every adult/"motherly figure" ALL SPOKE THE SAME. (One thing that I really hated was her mum calling her "honey", and the other lady she meets later on calling her the exact same thing. I've never met anyone who uses the term honey okay). Eventually all the characters blurred together, and I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters. I had many rants on social media about these things I've just stated, where loads of people have agreed with what I say, so I know I'm not alone on these opinions. Overall, I really liked the ideas of this book. If the characters were written better and the overall story told in a better way, this book would have been more enjoyable (and I probably would've finished it).”
