“If you are looking for a cozy, sweet holiday romance, this is the one for you. This story follows Devon, who arrives in the small town of Maple Glen to fulfill a promise to her late brother Dan. When she's injured, firefighter Finn comes to her rescue, and she’s taken in by his family, who offers her warmth, love, and a sense of belonging - something she's been missing for some time. Devon has never experienced a family like Finn's and it gives her a glimpse of what she's been missing and may want in her future. And it helps that they are all staying in the same home, allowing each day for her and Finn to get closer and closer. But she never planned on staying around, she was only there to fulfill Dan's wishes and then leave. But can Finn convince her to stay... for good? While the story is full of heart and offers an enjoyable, cozy atmosphere with their sweet, small- town and holiday traditions. I did feel it was a bit slow-paced and one-note at times. The slow-burn romance builds gradually, but I felt it was a little too drawn out, which for me affected the overall flow. For me, this resulted in a solid 3-star read. However, despite it being a bit of a slower read for me, the emotional payoff and the themes of healing, love, and second chances at a different life... are still worth the read! And I DO recommend others give this sweet romance a chance! I think you will fall in love with Finn and Devon's story and you will truly enjoy your time in Maple Glen. I recieved a complimentary copy of this book. This reflect's my honest opinion.”
“This is a wonderful, clean and uplifting, rescue romance set at Christmas time. It’s book two of the Home To Maple Glen series, but can be read as a standalone. Author Janice Carter pulls in readers with her blend of suspense and heartwarming romance while she explores the nuances of the rescue trope. Firefighter Finn McAllister is the classic strong, brave rescuer who provides protection and safety for the social worker from Chicago who is staying at a local Bed and Breakfast. Devon Fairchild is a vulnerable woman who finds herself in trouble while on a mission to break free from her past. Finn gives room to her emotional growth after rescuing her. The pacing of the evolution and the dynamics between the characters creates an engaging story. The themes of promise-keeping, trust-building, overcoming trauma and fear of failure are well integrated into a captivating narrative. You may feel tempted to bake Danish Kringle cookies after reading this one! I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.”

About Janice Carter

Writing has been a passion for Janice Carter from a young age but her 'second' career after teaching didn't officially start until she took a romance writing course at a local community college. The story she began then became her debut novel, a Harlequin Intrigue. Janice says she's been very lucky to do what she enjoys most--writing about the connections between people and their families; in other words, how we find love and romance.
