“while i had hoped for a more nuanced perspective on international adoption that considered the implications of western imperialism, this is a story about families, born, found, created, or otherwise.
i found the consistent threads of matriarchal wisdom to be compelling and am thinking about the similarities and stark differences between all of the maternal figures in the story.”
