“writing this as soon as I finished the last book, so my thoughts are definitely scrambled overall the story was more than I expected, from what I've heard others say. There were highs and lows. I felt a majority of the main cast were strong characters, and the characters in a story are the most important part for me personally. I enjoyed the dynamics for the most part, especially between Mare and Maven. I think the dynamic between the protagonist and antagonist are one of the most important parts of the story and most enjoyable if done well, along with the protagonist and the love interest. I enjoyed the ending, especially that not everything was completely wrapped up/settled, as it would've been terribly rushed if so, and that we ended with not only Mare finally being able to rest, but without Tiberias as of that moment. Not only because I agree she just needs to find herself, but also because I did not like him. I very rarely truly dislike characters, both as characters and as people, but he is one of the select few, and the only character in this series that I could not stand. While I'm glad he came around in the end, he was flaky, unreasonable, and downright whiny at times. He also bored me to death, and while I also despise Maven, I at least found him interesting. However my dislike of Tiberias does not outweigh my like for the other characters, such as Evangeline, Mare, and Farley. I've heard others did not enjoy Mare and found her annoying, but I've always appreciated imperfect female characters. I'm also glad we got to explore Evangeline's character, and that she wasn't just the one dimensional, antithesis of Mare like I thought she was going to be at the start of the series. Overall a solid series that was a very long, and sometimes tiring, journey but worth it in the end.”
