“This is a cute children's fantasy novelette with a nice premise and a good sense of humor. Some of the jokes may go over the heads of younger readers, but overall it's a reasonably good fit for its audience. For a YA reader, the events and obstacles may be a bit on the simplistic side, but it's a pleasant read nonetheless. The characters are sketched more than fully developed, but in the context of the story, that's sufficient. The story is a nice update on a classic concept of the dangers of wish fulfillment. Recommended for older children (6-9).”
