“I enjoyed the first in this duology but I could not get into this one. I think the first thing that turned me off of it was the inconsistency.
At the end of the first book, the FMC reclaimed her deceased mother's ring. When she tried to wear it, she realizes that it doesn't fit because she "had inherited her father's broad hands". Now, at the beginning of this one, she is admiring the ring and how it fit perfectly and that she had inherited her mother's hands. A small thing but every time it mentioned the ring on her finger it brought this to mind.
Other than that, I found it dragging far to much to stay interesting. I got to 50% and I had to return it to the library after trying for 3 weeks to get through it.”

“The entire book was great until the climax. The main character isn't even involved. She finds out what happens through a letter and why? Because she'd rather stay back with a boat full of kids who don't need her and her injured "friend" who she likes, but honestly just hates. Laziest way to end a story.”
