Quilt

By Dan Padavona
Quilt by Dan Padavona digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

How far would you go to save a child in need?

Jadyn is a promising inner-city student. But his community is terrorized by gangs and a series of grisly unsolved murders.

After the boy stops coming to school, his teacher, Annelise, determines to find out why. Now she is trapped on the wrong side of town, and something evil is stalking her.

Quilt is the most twisted story yet from Dan Padavona, author of bestseller Crawlspace. Fans of horror movies such as Candyman and Nightmare on Elm Street will especially enjoy the squeamish, psychological horror of Quilt.

"One of the most exciting writers to burst upon the scene in quite some time." - Brian Keene

"This novella's second half goes for broke in some truly hair-raising sequences that gave me a serious case of the creepy-crawlies."

"I won't say why this book is called Quilt...once you find out, your jaw will drop. It's some Silence of the Lambs level horror."

“The opening sentence of Dan Padavona’s Quilt reveals in a chapter headline, “One week after the boy stopped coming to school, the spiders sank their fangs into Annelise.” So, from the early stages of this short 60-page novella, the reader has a fairly clear indication of the direction the story is heading. This bold opening statement does not kill suspense entirely, but neither does it assist a plot, which is fairly predictable. It’s worth questioning whether this type of very obvious foreshadowing at the start of some chapters added anything to the tension. In reality, some are mini-plot spoilers, even if they are nice openers. You can read Tony's full review at Horror DNA by https://www.horrordna.com/books/quilt-dan-padavona-book-review .”
“Quilt is the first story I have read by the author. I found this to be a very enjoyable and thought provoking story that kept me hooked all the way through. The author has created realistic characters that involve you in their lives and struggles. I loved the primary character who is a strong female who is determined to do what is right and will not give up. The killer in the story is truly scary and felt believable to me. I also liked that this story dealt with subtitle racism and classism and made me think about how those living challenging lives can be abandoned by the system. This is in novella form but I would have loved to see this expanded to a novel. But this story does work in the novella form and is complete. The pace moves along quickly and never seemed to lag for me. The horrific scenes were quite dark and tension filled and were definitely written by an author in control of his craft. I really loved this book and plan to read more by this author.”
“A quick, fun page-turner of a story that displays Padavona's ever-improving writing style. If you like cringe worthy horror tales then pick this one up.”
