Prey by Michael Crichton digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

#1 New York Times Bestseller

“Terrifying. . . irresistibly suspenseful.” — New York Times Book Review

“Holds your attention ruthlessly from start to finish.” — Time magazine

A terrifying page–turner in classic Crichton tradition, masterfully combining the elements of a heart–pounding thriller with cutting–edge technology. The result is a tale so realistic, so scary, you won’t be able to put it down.

Deep in the Nevada desert, the Xymos Corporation has built a state-of-the-art fabrication plant, surrounded by miles and miles of nothing but cactus and coyotes. Eight people are trapped. A self-replicating swarm of predatory molecules is rapidly evolving outside the plant. Massed together, the molecules form an intelligent organism that is anything but benign. More powerful by the hour, it has targeted the eight scientists as prey. They must stop the swarm before it is too late…

In Prey, Michael Crichton combines scientific brilliance with relentless pacing to create an electrifying, chilling techno-thriller

Expressionless Face“IM SO BUMMED I HAVE TO RATE THIS SO LOW 😭😭 The premise of this book sounded SO good I mean hello micro robots programmed as predators escaping and adapting every hour, like sign me up (except now I regret it) the first literally 100 ish pages I forgot I was even reading a scifi thriller book bc it was all about him being convinced his wife was having an affair idk why we got so much of that storyline when the whole plot of the book had to do with micro robots as predators lol (yes I understand it ties in but why did it focus SO long on that) After things picked up (like 50% mark lol) it got decently good but I think I was so over it by the time it actually got good that I lost interest you know? I was expecting Jurassic park level excitement, maybe that’s my own fault lol. I’m so sad I didn’t love this more because this is my first Michael Crichton book, he has made some of my all time favorite movies and I really want to get into his books I was expecting so much more. I just found myself so bored for the first literal 50% :((((((( (I’m not giving up on him though don’t worry, based on my research alot of people felt this same way with this book and say a lot of his other books are way better)”
Anxious Face with sweat“This is a thriller and suspenseful book that takes the readers into a fabrication plant mishap in Nevada. I really liked the details the book got into with technology, engineering, biology, and evolution. It is a book about software that models predator behavior which is integrated into nanotechnology and how it evolves within a matter of days. It did a good job of displaying the intersection between AI and biology. I enjoyed both the evolution and technology theories that went into writing this.”
