Two childhood friends. Two broken hearts. One impromptu road trip to get away from everything. That’s all this was supposed to be. After all, I’ve been living in the friend zone for years now.
But hockey heartthrob Jasper Gervais isn’t looking at me like a friend anymore. And he isn’t touching me like one either.
To his fans, he’s the handsome, talented athlete on TV. To me, he’s still the lost boy with sad eyes and a heart of gold.
The man I’ve loved in secret for years.
So when my life falls apart on my wedding day, it only makes sense that he’s the one to swoop in and save me. And when his world comes crashing down around him, I’m there to return the favor.
But the more time we spend alone, the more Jasper doesn’t feel like a friend at all. He feels like everything I’ve ever wanted and thought I could never have.
Our feelings aren’t straightforward though. They twist and turn around the pain of his past and the reality of my present.
Jasper Gervais acts like he wants me.
But after years of turning me away, he’s going to need to prove it.

“These just keep getting better and better. I enjoyed this sooo much! From the moment Jasper was introduced I was sure that I’d love his story and I wasn’t proven wrong. The whole childhood friends trope always gets me, it’s just so cute, and I liked how it was done. I liked Jasper as a character, with his mental struggles and flaws and everything. Just like I liked Sloane. Her personality and character were really likeable to be honest, it took me by surprise for some reason 😂. I specifically adored these moments they had that they would go down memory lane together and say the sweetest things. That’s all I need to love friends to lovers so much. And things were made tenfold better with all the other family members and friends circling them. I’m a sucker for such interactions. The way the Eatons have completely absorbed Jasper into their family, including him in everything they do, had me literally smile from ear to ear. I love some good found family. Additionally, it’s nice witnessing everyone else go on with their lives. Their stories continue beyond their books and you can see how they move on from another perspective.”

“I didn’t know much about this book going in and I’m glad I didn’t. I enjoyed being able to hear the storyline as it was happening. Something about the way Elsie Silver writes is at moments deep, funny, spicy, and calming all in the same book and you feel it all. I always try and stay vague with my reviews but I have to say when they are at the hotel and the lake color and moment is described I just don’t know how you can’t feel a little emotional. There are so many scenes like that just make these books feel like a true romance book because it feels so genuine the way they express themselves to internally and externally.”
