Dealing in antiques through the Internet, he finds a house needing restoration in the town of Snohomish, Washington, U.S.A. KC Lynnson is a mouthy policewoman who lives next door. Even striking sparks off of each other, they work well together solving the coincidence of strange notes in her possession and notebooks found in his renovated house. Her friends introduce Devlin to the vulgarities of potlucks and back yard barbecues, while he retaliates with a taste of refinement. Feelings come to a head when KC is shot in the line of duty when a drug bust goes bad.

About Robin Wood
When winter comes to the North Cascade Mountains of Washington State, Robin and her husband hibernate with a warm fire in the wood stove and shovel snow --- snow---snow. Soup in the crock pot is a must. Sometimes with no power, the soup goes on the stove. Her husband catches up on his repair jobs in his workshop; Robin writes and answers the phone. The kids, all seven of them call regularly to see how they are faring. It’s beautiful here with the snow hanging off the evergreens and the many birds at the bird feeder. Robin is a lucky woman!!
