Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“This book is short, but man it is packed with a punch. So much happens but at the same time it works. This is not a book that is clustered or you are confused about what is going on. It goes with the flow and really is perfect. You have Kayla who is just a teen girl trying to live a normal life. But has a mother that is a drunk and a father that is cheating with the secretary at work and just doesn't want the life he is living but will not let it go at the same time. Her brother ( Chris) is over it and trying to tap out and her poor baby sister ( lilly) is just along for the ride like her. You have the Kathy which is the next store neighbor and really tries to help them by keeping the family together but is she? Then sh$t hits the fan and one thing after another just starts getting piled in this poor girl. She just can't get a break . Plus I haven't even told you the half of it. Which you need to read to find out. This is a dark themed book that will suck you right in and not let you breathe until the end! I really have been loving this author's books. I enjoy her writing style and she had a lot to pick from for fast reads for the end of the month if that is what you are looking for. And she has an arrangement of different genres for you as well. Go and check her out and this is a must read! 5/5📚 ~ Screams & Reviews 🖤🫶🏼📚💋”
“I ate this book right up, finished in less than 2 hours!!! This book has so much packed into it, ecspecially for a short novella, but it's so good. It takes you on a crazy rollercoaster ride that has twists and turns coming at you from all angles that you definitely don't see coming but that's what I loved about it!! This book is not for the faint of heart, even though it’s an easy read. There are many dark themes. Thank you Abby for giving me the chance to arc read it!!!”
“Love a short read that keeps me guessing :)”
“4 ⭐️ If you want a quick fast paced book this is it. I was shocked at what happened in every chapter and I had no clue where it was going. I was really rooting for Kayla and her family. At one point I was rooting for her mom. The another twist came and I was left speechless. For sure check content warnings!”
Surprised Face with Open Mouth“Is everything really as it seems? As there are some dark themes in this book, this book is not for everyone. It is not for the faint of heart. Even though I did find it to be an easy read, and I did personally enjoy it. But then again, I am a bit twisted. From the outside, everything appears perfect, perfect life, perfect family, perfect house, everything is just perfect. But, the reality is that Kayla's life really isn't as it seems, and there is a lot going on under the surface. There are a lot of events that happen one after each other just page after page. All Kayla wants is to pretend that her family is perfect, when in reality, everything around her is falling apart, and her family is actually anything but perfect and is rather dysfunctional. Kayla has never been forced to grow up completely. She finds that the events she is forced is go through in the privacy in her home, behind closed doors of course, force her to finally grow up and start taking accountability for herself and take on the responsibilities of being a parent. This is a rather short read, or at least that's what it felt like to me. And remember, as you read, everything isn't going to be as it seems, or is it, and you just think something is going to come and jump out at you off the page? If you want a fast read that's a roller-coaster of events and emotions, then this will be the one for you. I had fun with it, but I did get frusterated with some characters at times and I really wanted to just throttle a few of them at times and others I just wanted to scream at them to grow up, step up, and make them realize you can't keep the blinders on forever.”
