Pareidolia

By Damir Salkovic
Pareidolia by Damir Salkovic digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

When disgraced celebrity biographer Don Ruby is offered a contract with a reputable publishing house, he's sure there's been a mistake. He goes to clear things up with the actual writer in question, but finds him dead.

On impulse, he pockets the man's notes and embarks on the writing project himself—a biography of a once-famous horror film director. More specifically, the director's lost movie, The Unveiling.

The more Don learns about the film, the more disassociated he becomes from reality. There's something sinister behind The Unveiling, something that wants to be reborn … and it needs Don to do it.

Pareidolia Reviews

“I picked this book mainly because of the cover (which I often do with horror books for some reason) and at first I was worried it would be a straight slasher story in book form which is not really my thing. Instead, it turned out to be a book about... writing a book about slasher movies. It reads even better if you’re familiar with horror films and pop culture. Don wasn’t my favorite protagonist, but the story kept the tension going. The writing is smooth, the dialogue is intriguing and funny, and I found myself really waiting for Don to finally figure things out”
