Parasite by Darcy Coates digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

When a guard discovers an unusual lifeform on her remote moon outpost, she disregards protocol to investigate―with catastrophic consequences. It soon becomes clear she's stuck in isolation with an alien capable of incredible depravity. The parasite wears its victims' skins and adopts their personalities. It mimics the way they talk, the way they look, the way they act. It's the perfect disguise.

And by the time humanity realizes it's facing extinction, it's already too late.

As the alien's ruthless progress collapses communication networks, wipes out defenses, and leaves hundreds of stations to fend for themselves, a handful of remarkable individuals must find a way to battle the greatest threat the universe has ever encountered... or die trying.

Parasite Reviews

3.5
“The story fell apart a bit at the end, but the first 400 pages or so are great. Darcy Coates is at the top of her game right now, and I’m really enjoying the direction her recent books have taken.”
“This felt like a perfect cross between The Thing and Aliens, which just so happens to be two of my all-time favorite sci-fi movies. So, this book was right in my wheelhouse! I absolutely love science fiction, I love horror, and I especially love when the two genres collide into sci-fi horror. Parasite delivers exactly that. The story follows a shape-shifting alien lifeform that moves through isolated space stations, killing its human hosts, wearing their skin, and mimicking their voices and memories. Figuring out who you can trust becomes a terrifying fight for survival. One of my favorite things about this book was the structure. It’s told through a series of interconnected short stories and novellas that gradually come together to create one larger, cohesive story. I really enjoyed watching all the pieces connect and seeing the bigger picture emerge. This was action-packed, fast-paced, suspenseful, gripping, and exciting. Which is everything I want from a sci-fi horror novel. There’s a constant sense of danger and uncertainty that kept me turning the pages, and the combination of alien horror, paranoia, and survival made for a really entertaining read. Overall, Parasite was a fast, fun, creepy, and thoroughly entertaining sci-fi horror adventure.”
