“Perfectly unsettling and deeply felt, this reminded me of the best kind of fairytales wherein each chapter is a jewel that, when held up to the light, reframes how we see the world around us.” —Roshani Chokshi, New York Times bestselling author of The Star-Touched Queen and Aru Shah and the End of Time

“A fearless and moving adaption of the film, and a gorgeously written, emotional, frightening parable about the courage of young women amid the brutality of war.” —Michael Grant, New York Times bestselling author of Gone

“Like a lot of people, I watched Pan’s Labyrinth at a way too young age, and it definitely caused some nightmares but was also a movie I watched several times as a kid. When looking for Inkheart, I happened across this. I’d had no idea it existed! It was a very quick read, but I didn’t really feel like it went into more depth than the movie. I was expecting more from it, and I struggled to care about the characters.”
Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“This movie was so great, the novelization was so much better. It was really cool to see how they explored and explained so many details that were impossible to portray in the movie!!”
Slightly Smiling Face“The imagery and the writing is beautiful, and the dark fairytale aspects are really well done and described. But unfortunately, the story itself is not so exciting or captivating. Although the chapters are quite short, the lack of excitement in the story and the slow pace make it hard to get through the book. From the 60% mark, however, it becomes more captivating and the individual little stories that are woven into the book, which are sometimes quite gruesome, are still beautifully told and it all fits together so well.”
