By T. Kingfisher
Paladin's Grace by T. Kingfisher digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Stephen's god died on the longest day of the year…

Three years later, Stephen is a broken paladin, living only for the chance to be useful before he dies. But all that changes when he encounters a fugitive named Grace in an alley and witnesses an assassination attempt gone wrong. Now the pair must navigate a web of treachery, beset on all sides by spies and poisoners, while a cryptic killer stalks one step behind…

From the Hugo and Nebula Award winning author of Swordheart and The Twisted Ones comes a saga of murder, magic, and love on the far side of despair.

Paladin's Grace Reviews

Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“Overall, this was great fun. So many elements I enjoyed, witty internal monologues, dry humour, funny and lovable characters, links to characters/scenes from Swordheart. Were there things that irked a little? The insta-lust as the kids call it, the WHOLE chapters dedicated to teenage-style day dreaming about one another - those I could have done without. A little bit is fine, and thankfully we eventually got over them and remembered there was a plot to come back to. Yet, what seems to stand out for me, both in this and Swordheart (sequel coming out this year, I think, *squee*) is how realistic the characters are built, they're broken, and imperfect, but they're honest and believable, and funny and genuine, and most of all - they don't change their character to help the plot, they're not randomly strong or girl-bossing their way out of the 3rd act. They're human. Is it a brilliant read? I mean... No. Is it really sweet, and a balm to the heart? Yes! Great palate cleanser!”
“I enjoyed this book though it was a bit predictable. Overall I liked the characters, especially the Paladin. I appreciated the ending in that they didn’t immediately get married and typical happily ever after but still kept their individuality and each other. I also really appreciated Grace standing up for herself in the end, it was quite satisfying! I still have questions about the monsters though…”
