Outwitting Paradise

By Miranda Herald
Outwitting Paradise by Miranda Herald digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Paradise is perilous.

Brianna just wanted a little adventure to spice up her life, but she ends up with far more than she bargained for. Stranded on an island brimming with intrigue and littered with dangerous traps, her best chance at survival may be the very thing that leads to her demise.

Nathan may be considered as eccentric–cryptic, even–but that is nothing compared to the enigma that is Briana. When he allowed her to remain on his private island as his daughter's governess, he never imagined she'd fill the vacant space in his heart as well.

On an island teeming with dangerous traps, deadly puzzles, and menacing riddles, can Brianna find the adventure and romance of a lifetime with Nathan? Or will the fatal challenges rip her away from the man, island, and life she loves?

“Type: Romance, some comedy, a little adventure ⭐️ 4 Age range: 16+ Quotes: - It looked like she was one of those people who needed to learn their lessons the hard way. - “Exactly who or what is Suzie Q? I’m not in the mood to be eaten by a velociraptor today.” - “Yes, your brother has charm. Yes, your brother is handsome and funny. I really like him. The only problem is, he’s not the one I’m in love with.” - I decided what I needed to destroy was… You.” - You mean so much to me. I don’t know what I would do if something happened to you!” - “Whatever crazy things life brings, I feel safe with you. Always. You’re my safe harbor in the middle of a storm.” - “You let a chicken carry around a diamond ring?” Review: Ship wrecked thanks to a horrible boat rental Brianna is faced with trying to survive on a private island until she can be rescued. Then she meets Nathan who doesn’t trust anyone who randomly shows up on his family island and unfortunately that happens often because mainlanders talk about the island like it’s an attraction. Nathan immediately questions Brianna and then finds out about the wreck and offers to help her so she can get some food warmth and shelter then will bring her to the mainland so she can go home. After seeing how amazing she is with his child he doesn’t know that he wants her to leave, so he offers her a job as his daughter governess. Was that a smart move? Especially when he starts to fall for her? He takes his time walking her through the island over the next few weeks and shows her all the traps, puzzles, and mysteries of the island and on there walks they sometime feel watched or notice traps are set off or broken though push it off on the wild life around them. But is it the animals on the island or something bigger? This is a great light hearted fun read it gave me moments where I thought about Indiana Jones and the traps/puzzles he had to face.”
“A breath of fresh Island air, and finding romance. I loved this adorable romantic adventure!! It has a little bit of everything. It was a PG romance, and very sweet. His family owns the island that she ends up on when her boat sinks. He ends up hiring her as a kind of governess for his daughter. The island is filled with puzzles and traps, but nothing dangerous. He, his brother and father own a game company with video and board games filled with puzzles and traps. It is a fun story with wit, friendship, romance and adventure. I enjoyed it so much I’m buying the paperback. But it is book 1 of 2, and I look forward to seeing what happens next!!”
“If you like puzzles, riddles, the single dad trope, boss/employee, jungle, adventure, romance! This one’s for you! While on what’s supposed to be a nice, relaxing getaway, Brianna decided to take a rental boat out and explore but then found herself sinking in the middle of nowhere. She swims toward a private island hoping for a rescue by what she doesn’t realize the island is full of traps and puzzles that she doesn’t know how to navigate quite yet and keeps finding herself in nets and animal traps. The she meets Nathan, who immediately questions her as to why she’s there and assumes she’s a trespasser, when in all reality she’s trying to get off this island just as much as he wants her gone. They have plans for her to leave but a big storm rolls in making it quite impossible to take her back to the mainland just yet. Throughout the next couple of days, Nathan gets to know her and realized that she is very good with his daughter, so he offers her a job as a governess (aka nanny). From there, he shows her around the island and how to navigate all the traps. He eventually starts to fall for her but is conflicted because he doesn’t want it to affect their boss/employee relationship but even more than that affect his daughter who things have been going so well with. I won’t give away any more, but this was a good read! I got to escape from reality for a bit. The ending was a little bit rushed for my liking, but it was still had and HEA, which I can appreciate. I felt like a lot of it happened to soon with the feelings and the ending but I wouldn’t change anything else. I also feel like it was a little outdated but, I saw the author revamped it and got a whole new cover which I liked better. It wasn’t a book a typically go for, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. 3.5/5 ⭐️ 0/5”
