Oriental Tales Reviews

3.5
“This collection was an interesting and rewarding first crack at something by Yourcenar. The fakeout of the title and cover image also make me laugh - 6/10 of these stories take place in Greece or the Balkans and the last one's set in Amsterdam. Those looking for some classic orientalistic stereotyping to critique don't have much material to work with here.”
“The setting of most of the tales wasn't even that oriental and also contained a bunch of crappy people all around. Not for me.”
Expressionless Face“[STORYGRAPH IMPORTED] This is a strong litterature work, its problems lies in the choice of the novelas, meanwhile some were fantastically written and incredible to read (note that i read it in french) others as the second or the fourth (if i don't mistake) were unreadable... Sad thing the editor didn't remove those "superficial" novelas (the borings lmao)”
