Publisher Description

Book Two of the bestselling Lux series

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon's determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I've sworn him off, even though he's running more hot than cold these days. But we've got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I'm a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who's got a secret of his own. He knows what's happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I've seen someone who shouldn't be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he's never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

“"'Say it... Tell me what you told me earlier.' 'I love you.' 'That's all I ever need to hear.' 'Those three words?' 'Always those three words.' I'm about 10 years too late to this series, but I love me some Jennifer L. Armentrout, so I've been itching to continue this series. The first book in this series was not my favorite. I believe I also gave it three stars, but the ending set it up for a good sequel! The writing definitely shows its age, especially in this book, but once you get past that, it isn't so bad. My main issue with this book is how repetitive the first 200 out of 367 pages are. It was constant bickering between Katy and Daemon. Going from "You don't like me like that!" to her saying he hated her just a few weeks ago, to them arguing over the new guy Blake's name, to her getting into trouble and him saving her, and then her going out with Blake and Daemon, is magically there and takes her home. I kid you not, that was how the first 200 pages went. I was so bored, and I'm not sure what kept me going, but I persisted! I'm glad I ended up sticking with this one, because I will definitely be reading to at least book three. The last 167 pages were WILD. They were absolutely predictable, but I was locked in. I am sooooo interested to see how book three goes, but also how the hell there are five total books (not counting novellas and POV retellings) in this very simple-seeming series. I don't care much for Katy and Daemon, but they're not so bad. If I can love Nora and Patch, I can learn to love these two.”
“[Format: Digital] — 2/5 stars.”
