Publisher Description

From the author of Happily Ever Afters comes another irresistible YA romantic comedy full of self-discovery and Black love—and a dreamy European cruise. Perfect for fans of Nicola Yoon and Jenny Han, with crossover appeal for readers of Jasmine Guillory and Talia Hibbert romances.

Lenore Bennett has always been a force. A star artist and style icon at her high school, she’s a master in the subtle art of not giving a . . . well, you know what. But now that graduation is here, she’s a little less sure.

She’s heading to NYU in the fall with a scarlet U (for “undeclared”) written across her chest. Her parents always remind her that Black kids don’t have the luxury of figuring it out as they go—they have to be 110 percent prepared. But it’s a lot of pressure to be her ancestors’ wildest dreams when Lenore’s not even sure what her dreams are yet.

When her family embarks on a post-graduation Mediterranean cruise, her friend Tessa is sure Lenore’s in for a whirlwind romance. But Lenore knows that doesn’t happen to girls like her.

Then she meets Alex Lee. After their parents bond over the Cupid Shuffle, she ends up stuck with him for the remainder of the cruise. He’s a hopeless romantic and a golden boy with a ten-year plan. In short, he’s irritating as hell.

But as they get to know each other during the picturesque stops across Europe, Alex may be able to help Lenore find something else she’s been looking for, even if she doesn’t want to admit it to herself: love.

“Another FANTASTIC book by this author! I absolutely adored Lenore in Happily Ever Afters, and she truly did her justice as a main character in her own right. Lenore was still an absolute fashion queen, still teasing and forthright in how she presents herself, but with this book we got to peek behind the curtain at her sweet, vulnerable center. And the girl we meet is one who has a lot of walls for a lot of good reasons—one who is full of ambition and art, but doesn't quite know where to direct it. One who is under immense family pressure to get it just right, even as she and the author affirm again and again that her parents are well-meaning people who are on her side. I loved getting to travel the world with Lenore and her family, and most especially meeting Alex (the love interest). He is... *chef's kiss* a perfect blend of cute, sweet, dorky, and charming. He's SO romantic that it almost feels like it should be cheesy, but he just isn't. He walks that line like he owns it, and we can't help falling in love for him right alongside Lenore. Elise solidified her auto-buy status for me with this one! I can't wait to see what comes next.”
“Elise Bryant has done it again!!! I loved this book so much. Lenore was one of my favorite characters in Happily Ever Afters, so I was happy that she was getting her own story. I felt so bad for her that she felt unloved and that she didn’t get a happy ever after like the girls in her best friend, Tessa’s stories. Lenore’s feelings about not knowing what to do after a big moment like graduating high school are real. I’m glad that she eventually came to a decision that felt right to her. The love story here was a slow burn, but I loved it! Lenore and Alex were so cute together! Alex was such a cinnamon roll and I loved him. Admittedly, I didn’t like Lenore’s brother, Wally, but towards the end of the book when we were given an explanation for his behavior I saw him in a new light. Etta was a gem and both sets of parents were funny together, but Lenore’s parents annoyed me because of how they treated Lenore in comparison to Wally and Etta. Overall, this was a great book and I loved it!”
