When America enters World War I, he enlists and is sent to France, where he finally discovers a sense of belonging and idealism among his fellow soldiers.
Cather's novel explores themes of disillusionment with American materialism, the search for meaning, and the tragic irony of finding fulfillment in war. "One of Ours" is presented here in its original and unabridged format.
