“Qué hago yo a las 2 de la mañana llorando por qué un par de adolescentes termina su relación?
Sé que a estas alturas, todxs conocemos las películas, pero realmente se nota el cambio de personalidades en todos los personajes y su madurez al pasar del segundo libro al tercero, algo que en las películas dejan muy a la deriva.
He aquí el recuerdo del por qué estaba enamorada de Noah en mi adolescencia y lo sigo estando! Cómo todos los adolescentes, era un idiota. Pero a medida que va creciendo y adquiere responsabilidades de acuerdo a su edad, también aclara sus sentimientos! Y madura... Y lo amo!
El final es un poco diferente a la película, y este me gustó más. Por que no se trataba de un "adiós" si no de un "hasta luego". Y no era un "jamás estuvimos destinos", sino un "tal vez ahora, sí sea nuestro tiempo".
Es el mejor libro de los tres, y ahora no sé si conservarlo o donarlo!”

First of all according to the authors note, she wrote this story when she was 16, and i have to say, that is pretty impressive. The story is pretty well written, the characters are all distinct and she managed to create a story that grows and changes for the better as the books progressed. The second and third books were vast improvements on the first.
However good the witting, i found the characters a bit frustrating and this was a difficult story to read at times. By design i am sure. The FMC has a lot of change to deal with and she needs to grow up a bit and in being forced into these changes, she has some immature outbursts and some heartbreaking moments.
I found that the amount of parent approved and parent oblivious drinking, partying and sexual activity that takes place in these books quite shocking in general.
In this book particularly, these two young couples all live alone in a beach house together for the summer on the parental stipulation that they don't throw parties.
First night. Party. And there are a few more over the course of the book.
This is just a little thing but i thought should be mentioned.
Mostly the FMC spends the book procrastinating important decisions, conversations and generally not keeping a to-do list or a calendar handy to keep her schedule planned out in any sort of organized way. Then inevitably everyone has a meltdown about it, and the cycle repeats. A lot.
After going through this roller coaster, with characters all throwing epic tantrums we finally come to the end. And what a sad, frustrating and heartbreaking end it is.
Not only does the FMC pick a rather strange career trajectory(she never once thinks about her path before deciding on a college, someone has to ask her outright before she ever started to think about it. But the clues i was getting were event planner or charity fundraising or something along those lines, but she chooses video game designer? Um...kay? Sure whatever i guess.)
And the biggest gut punch was the split with Noah. Don't get me wrong. These two had issues. The FMC was super immature. He had some anger issues. They needed to work on themselves. It was both an incredible moment of growth for both of them, and utterly heartbreaking. But i had a really hard time dealing with the completely blasé feelings they both exist in after it happens. They continue to live together but never speak? They part ways, move on, and it's fine?
I don't know. It just bothered me. Maybe that was the purpose?
It ends in the epilogue in a hopeful way. And i appreciate that. Im just not exactly sure i agree with the entire message this book is selling.
So after having read this entire series, I'm impressed by it in general. It has some depth to it. The ending leaves me feeling a little bittersweet and frustrated by a lot of the content. It was uncomfortable to read this book, and to end it this way. But perhaps that was what the author was trying to say? When kids grow up, and things change, it's uncomfortable and hard, but ultimately life is filled with infinite possibilities for growth and happiness, if you embrace that change and work with it?”
