On Wings of Blood (The Once and Future Pendragon, #1)

By Briar Boleyn
On Wings of Blood (The Once and Future Pendragon, #1) by Briar Boleyn digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Briar Boleyn breathes new life into old lore with the first book in a series set in a stunning new fantasy world of vampires, fae, and dragons…

On Wings of Blood is a dark academia fantasy romance featuring hate to love, slowburn to steam, villain gets the girl, all the tension and banter, an antihero FMC, a villain-to-morally-gray MMC with Draco Malfoy energy, and a tantalizingly dangerous blend of court and school intrigue. The series may have crossover characters from the world of Blood of a Fae, but can be read completely independently and will have darker tones. If you’re a fan of original mythology, unique world-building, and character-driven romantasy books such as Crowns of Nyaxia, From Blood and Ash, and A Court of Thorns and Roses, you won’t want to miss out on this riveting new saga.

“seemed promising in theory but this was highly underwhelming”
“The TENSION!! I may be being a little star generous but I don't care. I could see some plot choices and themes to some of my favourites in this genre. However, even in saying that I would say this book stands on its on and is its own thing. Now do I think this is for everyone no. If you don't like bully as a trope just don't. It's a heavy plot device for the book so you won't enjoy the book if you hate the bully romance trope. I also disagree with comparisons between this book and Fourth Wing. Just cut that out it's not accurate the only comparable thing is that it's a war college of sorts, and they don't balk at student death. Otherwise not in anyway like Fourth Wing. There were so many interesting and horrific plot points and world building. The theme of conditioned subservience and submission was huge. Anyway, I loved the characters they were very thought out and I can see how it is going to be a whole journey in book two and I'm here for it. I'm still thrown by the horrible happenings in the later portions of the book. And the cliffhanger at the end, although I had a thought that was going to happen it was still wild. I also have some theories about the uncle that I'd put here but don't want to spoil plot points but that guy is pure evil so I think my theory is accurate (I'm biased though in my belief in my own thoughts 🤣). I'm very excited to get to book two asap.”
“I have to say, there hasn’t been a book without an audiobook I have enjoyed so much since last year. A perfect story, fast paced, complex characters, dragons and a war college - perfect for those who wanted a little more from Fourth Wing!”
