“I’ve heard plenty about Orlean over the years, but this is my first time actually reading her work.
The appeal is clear, her light, conversational style reads like every essayist imagines their work to sound like. (Reading it while I plow through a frequently abstract novel, the clarity is deeply appreciated.) Several of the animal anecdotes will linger in the corners of my mind during small talk for years to come, and that is a fine accomplishment for quick and easy essays.”Ariana Helena

“I love Susan Orlean! Her passion for the world and living in it flows right off the page and makes me want to go and live my dreams. She is so inspirational and I would recommend reading any and all of her books.
This one was obviously about animals. She gives crazy, funny and heartfelt about animals around the world, the ones she’s owned herself, and ones other animal loving people care for. She loves animals and it’s such a joy to hear her marvel about the wondrous creatures that we share this planet with. After reading this book I’ve decided to get chickens just like Susan Orlean and although that is not quite possible right now — one day I’ve promised to myself that I will. (You should check out eggloos — the chicken coops — just those cute chicken coops themselves would make anyone chicken crazy)”
