Brenden Vetch's unique gift for connecting with the agricultural environment has brought him to the attention of the enigmatic wizard Od. Od Magic Reviews

4.5
“This was my first McKillip book, and let me say, her writing style is absolutely stunning. Whimsical, lyrical, eloquent; everything I love in a writers prose. She’s easily up there with Wurts and Hobb for me. The story itself has a wonderful MC who captivated me immediately. If you enjoy nature/magic heavy stories, this will work for you. Honestly some of the most beautiful scenes I’ve ever read in fantasy. Utterly enchanting, and worth re-reading over and over again just for those moments. What little I didn’t enjoy barely made a mark in comparison to what I did enjoy. Just to note: the plot involved a bit too much romance for me, and the ending didn’t blow me away. Regardless, I will read plenty more McKillip after this one. So glad I finally gave her a shot!”
“The cover art is beautiful but the characters were very flat. One of the few books I've read that would probably make a better movie.”
