Publisher Description

Five starred reviews!

From New York Times bestselling author Ashley Woodfolk, Nothing Burns as Bright as You is an impassioned stand-alone tale of queer love, grief, and the complexity of female friendship.

Two girls. One wild and reckless day. Years of tumultuous history unspooling like a thin, fraying string in the hours after they set a fire.

They were best friends. Until they became more. Their affections grew. Until the blurry lines became dangerous.

Over the course of a single day, the depth of their past, the confusion of their present, and the unpredictability of their future is revealed. And the girls will learn that hearts, like flames, aren’t so easily tamed.

It starts with a fire.

How will it end?

Loudly Crying Face“themes: queer, heartbreak, first love. LOTS of metaphors beautifully written and organized. from the story to the word choice. i absolutely adored this book through and through. it’s hard to find many queer love stories, and though this isn’t the happiest of tales, it’s relatable (to “all too close” friendships) and just so damn beautiful. i am the water and she is the fire. it’s written in the poem format and organized by titles declaring how close the event is to “the fire”.”

“6/5 stars and more. Me and my friend have this thing going on where we recommend each other 2 books a month to read and at the end of each month we tell each other if we like the book or not. me and her read totally different genres have two completely tastes in books so I was kind of scared when she suggested this idea to me cause I don’t read what she reads. When she recommended me to read this book this month I was nervous but I also wanted to give it a try and get out of my comfort zone. I LITERALLY CRIED MY EYES OUT this book had me in distraught from the first page. It’s written so beautifully and well done. 10’s across the board!!!! MASTERPIECE of a book.”
