“A bit of background: I had this book since 2016 and haven't read it until now. If I were to have read this then, I probably have been more blown away by the futurist characters' dialogue on surveillance capitalism. Sad to say most if not all are either already true or close to it.
There's a bit of a 'mystery whodunnit' that kind of holds the book together, but honestly it's just an excuse for Ellis to school readers the various schools of futurist thinking. I still enjoyed it don't get me wrong, I loved Ellis' comics and his character writing is always witty and funny to me.
If you want a more entertaining, but still bleak, take on surveillance dystopia give this a read.”“Portland seams intense glad it's not real.
