“Ik had graag willen zien of de rooster verkocht zou worden aan Sabas of dat het rooster gevecht door zou gaan. Ik vond het ook mooi om te zien dat de vrouw eindelijk voor zichzelf op kwam want als ik haar was had ik hem en de rooster allang al vermoord. Er waren wel momenten dat ik me slecht voelde voor de colonel, hij was te naïef en te eigenwijs.”

About Gabriel García Márquez

Gabriel García Márquez (1927–2014) was an author, journalist, and pioneer of the Latin American boom. Among his many books are The Autumn of the Patriarch, No One Writes to the Colonel, Love in the Time of Cholera, Living to Tell the Tale, Memories of My Melancholy Whores, and the classic One Hundred Years of Solitude. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.
