“An inspiring and most convicting work, which I plan to revisit. Mother Teresa dedicated her life to fulfilling Matthew 25: 40: "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Christ tells us that when we serve the hungry, thirsty, naked, and destitute, we're ultimately doing it for Him. She clarifies that this verse is not limited to physical needs alone but to the spiritual as well--those hungering for love, acceptance, forgiveness. Christ gave us His example when He washed His disciples' feet, so we recognize that by serving others, we're serving God. We're made in His image; therefore, every individual bears His image and is deserving of love. Mother Teresa loved even the most unlovable, those scorned by their families, those suffering from leprosy or AIDS, and those rejected by society.
Each chapter contains profound thoughts (at times repetitive, but nonetheless beautiful) on topics such as love, prayer, holiness, humility, and service. Her section on prayer really touched me: we approach prayer so often with all our petitions and penances, when we need to learn to approach in silence, humility, and receptivity.
A quote I really liked: "If we do not radiate the light of Christ around us, the sense of darkness that prevails in the world will increase."
The book ends with biographical information, an interview, and Pope John Paul II's Beatification homily in 2003.”

About Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa (1910–1997) was a nun among the destitute of the Calcutta slums who became one of the most beloved and highly respected women in the world. Recipient of many humanitarian awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize, she was personally acquainted with popes, presidents, and royalty. She never hesitated, however, to do the most menial tasks, and one of her oft-repeated themes was the need for humility. Mother Teresa was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003; beatification is a precursor to sainthood.
