“As Michael Connelly created more cop characters in the Bosch world it also reminds me that Bosch is getting old in-universe and Connelly will eventually need a new man with a mission. I love Ballard and can’t wait for her next book, but Stilwell seems to be the answer on who will replace Bosch as the lone MAN who cares only for justice for the victim. (That could likely be me projecting my assumptions about the core Bosch fandom)
As far as this book goes, it had the usual formula Connelly follows a protagonist following a couple of cases and he alone cares about truth and justice, while everyone else only cares about the easy way. Ahern ( I listened to the book on Audible so I’m sure that’s spelled incorrectly) was an obnoxious character and hopefully down the line of Stilwell books he gets thrown though a 2 way mirror like LT Pounds did back in the younger days of Bosch.”
