ByPublisher Description
X-Men meets Marissa Meyer’s Renegades when New York Times bestselling author of the Uglies series Scott Westerfeld teams up with award-winning authors Margo Lanagan and Deborah Biancotti in the final book of an explosive trilogy about six teens with unique abilities.
The Zeroes are in disarray.
One of them has vanished. One of them is in prison. The rest are on the most-wanted list. And something big is brewing.
Accused of murdering Swarm, Bellwether is in a high-security prison, isolated and unable to use his powers of influence. Flicker, Crash, Mob, and Scam are on the run as suspected domestic terrorists. And Agent Phan of the FBI has a secret weapon up his sleeve—a teenager with a superpower that the Zeroes haven’t encountered yet.
After a daring breakout, the group is drawn to New Orleans, where celebrating Mardi Gras crowds promise enormous power to anyone who can channel it. There, an army of Zeroes is gathering around a charismatic leader—whose plans are nothing short of cataclysmic.
Time is running out for the Zeroes, but they must learn to trust one another again if they want to avert the looming disaster.

“WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD
Picking up this series after a couple months was a very, very good feeling, especially since it has finally come to an end. It took me a minute to remember who these characters were, their powers and what they all went through in the first two books. I *ironically* also forgot about Anon and how he quite literally disappeared. Very unfortunate, and very sad.
Obviously, they found him, got him back into himself. I was interested to see how Ethan/Scam would fit more into the story, especially because there was a big side line story about how there isn't another one of him and how he would fit into the story, especially since he couldn't Scam his way with Verity in the way, at least not completely. It was interesting, yet a little disappointing, seeing his character kind of go into... nothing. I mean, from a Nate perspective, what good is a Scam if he can't Scam? But, I think it will end up good for him, especially since he seemed a little more at peace with himself at the end.
Flicker's story was a bit underwhelming, but impressive with how quickly she figured out how to reverse her power. Obviously it helped a bit with the end, but wasn't anything phenomenal.
Nate switching to help Piper, whether he knew it was bad or not, was disappointing. I was expecting him to out charm Piper, really dig into his power and soar like the other Zeores did, but he kind of failed everyone in the end. Icky.
Anon's story was good, but I wanted him to learn how to reverse his power as well, and instead stepped so far into the dark that he was almost lost MULTIPLE times. Obviously he found his way out because of Flicker, but I wish I knew more of where their story would end up.
Kelsie and Chizara were surprising, but honestly the least exciting? I mean Kelsie went into the Swarm power a bit, obviously not the same as everyone expected, and ended up kind of saving the world. Instead of creating this panicked world, she spread her love and calm over everyone, even if it was just for a few moments. It was sweet. With Chizara, it was fascinating how she worked her way out of the cage blocking her in, but to kill Piper was exactly what she didn't want which was a little disappointing, but it was understandable why she decided to do that. I liked, though, that she ended up using her powers for good, saving people as a surgeon and all that like Ethan said.
Overall, this was a nail biting, riveting story that I couldn't put down. I loved the story and how they got from point A to point B and everything in between. Absolutely wonderful .”
