Never Tear Us Apart
ByPublisher Description
The first novel of a darkly sexy duology about forbidden love, from the New York Times bestselling author of Lonely for Only You and A Million Kisses in Your Lifetime
“Amazing . . . a powerful story of friendship, trauma, coping, and betrayal.”—RT Book Reviews (4 1/2 stars)
Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I’m a fifteen-year-old again—the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She’s grown-up now—beautiful, quiet, composed—and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.
I need to make contact with her. Just to ensure that she’s safe.
Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.
So, yeah, I’m stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she’ll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.
My father.
Katie and Ethan’s steamy love affair continues in Never Let You Go.

I found this book to be very interesting, slightly dark, and overall emotional. Not in the emotional way that you’re going to cry your whole way though the book, but emotional in the sense that you gain these deep feelings of sympathy for the heroine. When you read the blurb for this book your lead to believe it is a forbidden romance. However, I beg to differ because when I think of forbidden romances I see the stories to be more along the lines of inner-family romances and student teachers. This is definitely not the case for this story but I suppose I can understand where the author is coming from as the hero of this story is someone from the heroines past who essentially lies his way into her life. Had she known who he was she may not have decided to date him… Perhaps this is where the forbidden touch comes from. Anyway, I enjoyed this book. I read it in a day- its fast paced for a 380-page book, and keeps you intrigued the entire time your reading. While not my all-time favorite, it is one of those books that I would highly recommend to other readers because it is fairly unique and touching. Readers need to be warned that it does end in a cliffhanger BUT the second book is out now (it’s called Never Let You Go, if you’re not familiar with the series).
I am not going to give away the gist of the plot because I feel like if I do that I will ruin the entire story for everyone. But I will say that there are a lot of moving parts within it. The characters will face many obstacles for their love story, loyalties will be tested and destroyed, emotional circumstances are the highlight for both of the characters’ lives as they are both extremely damaged (some more than others), and readers may question the motives of the hero. There were many times throughout the story that I was struggling with trying to understand the hero, but I suppose I can understand his position though it all. For this reason, I gave this story 4 stars.
Overall, I did enjoy this story. I am now emotionally invested in it and I have the strong need to pick up book two to see that happens. If you haven’t read the story and it sounds interesting to you (something you would like) than I recommend it. Please be aware thought that it does deal with some dark aspects, but not in a way that will gross out or turn readers off. In all honestly, I feel like the story is told in a delicate and beautiful way. It is not offensive in the slightest! If you’re planning to read this one, I hope you enjoy it ”

“To be quite frank, I was appalled at how many good reviews this story got. I know this is supposed to be fiction, and we are supposed to suspend belief in reality for the sake of this being a made-up story, but this book was very poorly written IMO.
Katie is kidnapped and brutalized as a young girl, and the man responsible is eventually caught and put into prison. While Katie is imprisoned, the one person who offers her solace is her abuser's son who later develops an obsession with her. I honestly found Will/Ethan (whatever the hell his name was) to be extremely creepy. He'd say things like:
"She wants to be found, but only by me. That's a recurring theme in my dreams. She trusts no one, want no one but...ME.. I woke up with my dick hard and my fantasies fueled by nothing but her. Her pretty blonde hair, perfect lips, and creamy smooth skin I want to touch. The sound of her voice as she whispers in my ear, her lips touching my skin and driving me wild with lust."
Knowing that Katie was sexually assaulted by his own father, you'd think he'd be on the opposite end of the lust spectrum when it came to her. I found it disgusting that he was thinking of her sexually, knowing what happened to her when she was younger.
Because of Katie's past, she is adverse to all violence and unwanted touch at the hands of a man, yet after just meeting Will/Ethan, she is enamored after he becomes violent and touches on her without her attention. I didn't find the immediate switch from not wanting to be touched, to craving Will/Ethan's touch believable.
Another thing that annoyed me about this book was the four person perspective. The timeline of the book is not linear, it jumps between two different time period, and Will/Ethan has two different names. It was much too difficult to keep up with the constant switch in POV.
I could go on, but you get the point. I wish there was a zero star rating, because this book was honestly one of the worst books I've ever read.”
