“All the negative reviews of this book are so interesting to me…”it was boring”, “I wanted more for Kathy and Tommy”, “Ruth made me mad”, “the characters were flat”, like exactly, EXACTLY. This is a tragedy in the truest sense; it was doomed from the beginning. Everyone is dead before they’re even born. The “twists” aren’t there to shock and appall, they’re there to cement the dread, that none of this matters, that these people never get a chance to even BE people. “This is the second book I've read by Ishiguro - the first being my recent read of Clara and the Sun. I am grateful for the context of his tone and style of writing, as I saw much the same pace/tone in this book (without this perspective, I might have been even more disappointed with NLMG).”Reviewed in:Literature Lovers Book Club

About Kazuo Ishiguro
KAZUO ISHIGURO was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1954 and moved to Britain at the age of five. His eight previous works of fiction have earned him many honours around the world, including the Nobel Prize in Literature and the Booker Prize. His work has been translated into over fifty languages and The Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go, both made into acclaimed films, have sold millions of copies worldwide. He was given a knighthood in 2018 for Services to Literature. He also holds the decorations of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from France and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star from Japan.
