“Individual ratings for each story: Midnights - 1.5 /5 (Rainbow Rowell is just not my cup of tea) The Lady and the Fox - 5 /5 (loved this so much!) Angels in the Snow - 2.5 /5 (unlikeable love interest, superficial plot) Polaris is Where You'll Find Me - 3.5 /5 (something was missing..) It's a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown - 5 /5 (another highlight!!) Your Temporary Santa - 3 /5 Krampuslauf - 3.5 /5 (good idea, not sure about the execution) What the Hell Have You Done, Sophie Roth? - 4.5 /5 Beer Buckets and Baby Jesus - 3 /5 Welcome to Christmas, CA - 4.5 /5 (really cute and fluffy) Star of Bethlehem - 4 /5 The Girl Who Woke The Dreamer - 5 /5 (didn't expect a story like this in the book)”
“Star of Bethlehem: 3/5 The Girl Who Woke The Dreamer: 5/5”
“Overall I enjoy about four out of the twelve stories in this book, I felt like the four I enjoy where actually holiday-ish in the way that little women or Harry Potter is. I felt like the other eight stories took place at the holiday time of the year but didn't have the spirit of the holidays like I was looking for. If your looking for unique cute short stories I would recommend this but if truly want holiday spirit stories simply go reread Harry Potter”
“A good selection of stories that are great to read over the holidays.”
“*̣̥☆·͙̥‧❄‧̩̥·‧•̥̩̥͙‧·‧̩̥˟͙☃˟͙‧̩̥·‧•̥̩̥͙‧·‧̩̥❄‧·͙̥̣☆*̣̥ Jotting down my thoughts in the order that I read them. (starting on my birthday!) Those with bold titles are the only ones I really enjoyed and would read again for Christmas. Midnights by Rainbow Rowell 2.5/5 This is a sweet story but the two main characters lack substance for me, or perhaps I'm being harsh on a story this short. It isn't that Christmas-festive either. Not a good start since everyone else seems to claim this is the best one in the collection :( It’s a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown by Stephanie Perkins 5/5 I was skipping around a bit because I couldn't get into the second story and AH SO GLAD I DID because this one by Stephanie Perkins is so adorable. I can't believe Stephanie manages to develop two likeable characters within pages. I squeed so much for their relationship! And yay for Asian heroine! One I would definitely reread over Christmas in the years to come. Polaris Is Where You’ll Find Me by Jenny Han 4/5 Wow. A really original Christmassy read! I somehow could picture this into a motion picture. The 'north pole' setting added a nice magical touch to its simple yet super sweet romance. The ending left me wanting for more yet satisfied at the same time. I'm glad Jenny left it as that. Welcome to Christmas, CA by Kiersten White 3.5/5 Is there anything better than a Christmas cafe? *ଘ(੭*ˊᵕˋ)੭* ੈ✲‧₊˚ I love the family dynamics of the story and FOOOOD! Though there were parts I thought that were unnecessary such as Candy being pregnant. Your Temporary Santa by David Levithan 2.5/5 A tad bit nonsense gabbing towards the end but the unspoken backstory of the Connor family definitely boosted my rating. What the Hell Have You Done, Sophie Roth?by Gayle Forman 2/5 At first the dialogues were really sweet but slowly I lost interest as it became quite cheesy and I couldn't really connect to the characters. The constant scene breaks were really annoying as well. Angels in the Snow by Matt de la Pena 4/5 A surprisingly sweet, genuine and at times sad story with realistic characters. It was nice to see them rediscovering themselves after they encountered each other. AND how much I want to hug Shy <3 Star of Bethlehem by Ally Carter 1/5 Umm...intriguing beginning but slowly becomes way too dramatic, and is that even romance there? I didn't finish any other story that is not mentioned here. Either I was not in the mood or it didn't interest me enough to finish.”
