My Sister Rosa

By Justine Larbalestier
My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

"Beats The Silence of the Lambs for suspense—it's the kind of book that had me literally gasping aloud as it rattled to its incredible conclusion."
—Cory Doctorow, New York Times bestselling author of Homeland

What if the most terrifying person you know is your ten-year-old sister?

Seventeen-year-old Aussie Che Taylor loves his younger sister, Rosa. But he’s also certain that she’s a psychopath—clinically, threateningly, dangerously. Recently Rosa has been making trouble, hurting things. Che is the only one who knows; he’s the only one his sister trusts. Rosa is smart, talented, pretty, and very good at hiding what she is and the manipulation she’s capable of.

Their parents, whose business takes the family from place to place, brush off the warning signs as Rosa’s “acting out.” Now that they have moved again—from Bangkok to New York City—their new hometown provides far too many opportunities for Rosa to play her increasingly complex and disturbing games. Che’s always been Rosa’s rock, protecting her from the world. Now, the world might need protection from her.

“I’m so glad I finally finished this. I did not enjoy this. So this book is pitched about a psychopath little sister and a big brother having to protect the world from her but 90% of this book is about the brother being obsessed with a girl he meets at his gym and him masturbating to her all the time. Also this book had way more religion in it than I was expecting and I wish that would’ve been promoted on the book somewhere. Because as someone who doesn’t like reading about anything religious it got very very annoying. This book didn’t even really get into the psychopathic little sister until the last 10% then it was all extremely rushed. I also wasn’t a fan of the writing style. This just wasn’t as good as I was expecting”
“Being a psychology student, it was interesting to see the right information about the anatomical brain structures, DNA and environment. I'd appreciate if antisocial personality disorder wouldn't be used interchangeably with psychopathy as both have many similarities but they aren't precisely the same thing / synonyns. I wasn't bored with the main character's teenage stuff. But I definitely looked forward to Rosa's logic and her perspective and how she twists everything to suit her. But I understand that although the book is titled as MY sister Rosa, it is still about Che, as he's the narrator of his own story and how he deals with his psychopathic sister. It was exhilarated by the end of this book and just couldn't keep the book down.”
