“Elizabeth Strout is a master of character studies. This non-linear, almost meandering novel, paints a vivid portrait of a woman desperate to be seen. The novel addresses childhood neglect, poverty, abuse and broken familial relationships. I love how Strout’s female characters are imperfect and unconventional which makes them feel whole and substantial. They leave a lasting impression.”
