When he awakens in terrible pain from his wounds, Roger finds himself in a rough-hewn hut surrounded by forest creatures… a fawn, a squirrel, an injured fox. All of them tended by a dark-haired beauty who urges him gently back to sleep. Later, he discovers she is Julianna de Vescy, the betrothed of the English baron who attacked their delegation. Recovered enough to travel, Roger must abduct the very woman who saved his life to ensure his safe return to Scotland.

My Highland Defender Reviews

4.0
“I liked the injured warrior/caring enemy trope. I personally haven’t seen it that much, so it was an interesting change. Overall the book was alright. In general, the miscommunication trope is getting old, but I get it. It’s tried and true and fit well into the storyline. It’s a satisfying book to read when you can’t sleep at night: exciting enough to keep you engaged but not so complicated you need to be at 100% brain power to follow along.”
“Book: My Highland Defender Author: Miriam Minger Series: Warriors of the Highlands, Book #6 Publisher: Walker Publishing Book Length: 186 pages Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars Blog Raing: 5/5 Saltire Flags Laird Roger Douglas is devastated by the loss of his wife who died giving birth of his son six months ago. He can’t focus on anything but the loss of his wife. He has been ignoring his duties as Laird plus ignoring his two toddler daughters and infant son, allowing servants to care for all three of his children. He could not think of anything but his mourning until Robert the Bruce offered him a commission. It is a mission to try to free his wife, Elizabeth de Burgh, who has been a prisoner for the past seven years. Julianna (Juli) de Versy is a healer whose grandfather has cared for her ever since she was a child. Her family had been brutally murdered by highlanders that were led by William Wallace. Sadly he is dying and forcing her to marry Charles de Montfort. A brutal man she does not care for or trust who is her opposite. As Juli is a healer that will heal anyone who needs her help. Unfortunately Roger’s entire delegation is murdered, lead by Charles de Montfort who is Julianna (Juli) de Versy’s betrothed. A forced betrothal that her dying grandfather set with a brutal man. He didn’t care that the Highlander’s were under a peaceful truce. This is where Juli, who is a healer discovers Roger, one who even heals all the hurt animals in the forest. Juli recognizes Rogers’s kindness and honor immediately and realizes he is not like the black hearted Scot’s who had murdered her family as a child. As with anyone who is hurt and needs help Juli saves his life. Unfortunately when Charles de Montfort realizes one highlander escapes - Juli goes to warn Roger! However Roger has no choice, but to take Juli hostage to save his life. He brings her to Robert the Bruce where he realizes this kind Englishwoman has no choice but to marry the handsome Scot. The story does not end here, as there are some who hate the English including his brother William who is the second born son and very jealous of Roger and his title. Plus the English are still looking for them too. So Roger and Juli seem to find complications at every given turn. Find out what happens next in this riveting, action packed, fast paced, page turning, romantic adventure, filled with murder, deception, treachery, betrayal and love! This is a book readers will get swept away in with so many twists and turns! A book readers will absolutely love! As Miriam Minger is one of my go to authors who never disappoints! I have read, reviewed and blogged every book in this breathtaking series that I absolutely love. A book you can read as a stand alone or in series order. A book readers don’t want to miss! Miriam Minger says: It's been a wonderful experience to have all my novels published as eBooks, but the greatest thrill for me as a writer is when readers take the time to let me know they enjoyed my stories...

"I have read hundreds if not thousands of books in my lifetime and not once have I ever been moved to comment on one until now. This is without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read. I laughed. I cried. I remained at the edge of my seat devouring every single word you wove with this incredible story. I just wanted to let you know how deeply this story moved me and to thank you for creating it."

Wow. This one left me speechless, and thankful. I had done my job, which is to make you feel like you've dropped feet first into a world that captures your imagination and emotions so vividly you might be living and breathing the story. And that's one of the purest joys of reading, isn't it? I know it is for me, and it is my hope to continue to write books that make you live and breathe the adventure, laugh and cry, and that touch your heart.
