He enjoys women, but only as a lighthearted dalliance, a game, an amusement. He had vowed four years ago never to marry. One broken heart is enough for any warrior's lifetime. Yet now the ultimate irony? He must steal Isabeau from under the very nose of the man she's supposed to wed, Euan MacCulloch, a hated enemy of King Robert. Aware that his loyalty is being tested, Conall sets out on his perilous mission but soon discovers that the tables have turned and his beauteous captive has become the captor...of his heart.

My Highland Captor Reviews

3.5
“Probably my favorite of the series so far. All cute palate cleaners, but this trope has been most enjoyable for me. I’m also deeply satisfied with the justice rendered to the characters.”
“The third book in Miriam Minger’s Warriors of the Highlands series, My Highland Captor follows Conall Campbell, a warrior who is rewarded for helping to save Robert the Bruce’s life. Unfortunately, Conall’s gift is a wife, which he doesn’t want. Plus, he has to steal her from her fiancée, who is one of Robert the Bruce’s enemies. Not one to disobey orders from his leader, Conall kidnaps Isabeau and begins his journey to the new property also gifted to him by Robert the Bruce. Except, unbeknownst to Conall, he kidnapped the wrong woman. Lisette knows she’ll do whatever she can to get out from under the vile clutches of her malicious half-sister Isabeau. So, when she is mistaken for Isabeau and taken by the handsome Conall, she continues the charade. How will Conall react when he finds out he took the wrong woman, and can this pair resist their growing feelings? I enjoyed My Highland Captor and think it is a strong addition to the series. The characters are dynamically developed and interesting, the plot is well-paced, intriguing, and suspenseful, and the romance is swoon-worthy. Lisette and Conall have amazing chemistry, even though their relationship started under unusual circumstances. Conall shows Lisette very early on that he is honorable and brave. He protects, defends, and cares for her even though he’s kidnapped her, and he slowly shows her that she is more than an unwanted bride. Both Conall and Lisette struggle with their feelings, which makes sense since both are unwillingly pushed into the marriage. Conall resists his feelings because he has been burned by love before, so he finds it difficult to let anyone into his heart. Lisette keeps secrets from Conall and fears revealing them will ruin her potential future with him. However, as they physically journey to their new home, Conall and Lisette go on an emotional journey too. Their feelings and fears and reluctance change the more they get to know each other, and they both face some truths about themselves. I enjoyed seeing this pair grow, both as a couple and individually, and their romance is wonderful. The story has suspense, danger, and intrigue, and the chapters told from Lisette’s half-sister add to the intensity. With kidnapping, threats as they travel, nefarious and secret plots underway, and someone from their past who threatens their future, there is never a dull moment for Lisette and Conall. I would definitely recommend this book to readers of historical romance, and if you read the first books of the series, you’ll be pleased to know that several of the characters make appearances in this book. However, if you didn’t read the first two, you can easily read this one as a standalone. Thanks so much to NetGalley, Oliver Heber Books, and the author for giving me a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.”

Miriam Minger says: It's been a wonderful experience to have all my novels published as eBooks, but the greatest thrill for me as a writer is when readers take the time to let me know they enjoyed my stories...

"I have read hundreds if not thousands of books in my lifetime and not once have I ever been moved to comment on one until now. This is without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read. I laughed. I cried. I remained at the edge of my seat devouring every single word you wove with this incredible story. I just wanted to let you know how deeply this story moved me and to thank you for creating it."

Wow. This one left me speechless, and thankful. I had done my job, which is to make you feel like you've dropped feet first into a world that captures your imagination and emotions so vividly you might be living and breathing the story. And that's one of the purest joys of reading, isn't it? I know it is for me, and it is my hope to continue to write books that make you live and breathe the adventure, laugh and cry, and that touch your heart.
