“Truly beautiful in the most human, mundane, heartfelt way. Must have taken me twice as long as normal to finish the last chapter because I cried through basically the whole thing and couldn't see.”
“What a wild ride!! Not as mind-blowing as I hoped. There were a few plot threads that never came up again. The animal horror was more than I wanted. But this is a book you can really pick apart and think about the layers of some of the themes (religious intolerance, homophobia, toxic friendships) so in that way it was really compelling. The pacing was excellent. The movie seemed to be a huge let down (bummer). A really great “summer horror” read. Really captured the 80s vibes so well.”

“This book was slow to start at first and I didn’t immediately mesh with the characters. About half way through it really picks up and some of the scenes were incredibly gross. If you’re sensitive to animal abuse maybe don’t read this book. The ending was really well done, this was such a good story about true friendship!”
