Publisher Description

Murder With a View is the third book in the delightful cozy mystery series from Diane Kelly set in Nashville, Tennessee—where the real estate market is to die for…

A DREAM PROPERTY

Carpenter Whitney Whitaker, her cousin Buck, and guard-cat Sawdust just scored a hot property near downtown Nashville in a tax sale. While the Music City Motor Court might not be much to look at now, the two plan to transform the motel’s twelve units into six one-bedroom condominiums with popular mid-century styling. But surprises await when Whitney discovers a squatter living in Room 9 and her cat Sawdust uncovers a body in the bed next door.

A LIVING NIGHTMARE

The murder victim is none other than Beckett Morgan, an up-and-coming country-western singing sensation who’s taken Nashville by storm with his number-one hit “Party in the Pasture.” Beckett’s left a long trail of broken promises and broken hearts, and the list of suspects seems endless. So does the line of female fans intent on halting the flip and turning the construction site into a shrine for the deceased star. If Whitney and Buck don’t help Detective Collin Flynn nail the killer, they’ll never be able to clear out the star-obsessed groupies, complete the remodel, and recoup their investment. But just who silenced the singer and why?

Murder With a View Reviews

3.5
“Read 111 of 325 pages. Picked this up at the library book sale for 25 cents. I'm not the target audience for this series. I thought it was silly (and not in a good way). This would probably be a fun audio book, but reading the paper back, I found my mind wandering and getting easily distracted. If this was 200 pages shorter, it could be a fun short story, or a good 90 minute podcast.”
“Verdict: I read it, I finished it, and it has already left my brain. Murder with a View by Diane Kelly is one of those books I picked up purely for logistical reasons. It had “view” in the title, which checked off one reading challenge, and it’s set in Tennessee, which knocked out a state for my Read the U.S. challenge. Efficiency at its finest. It’s a cozy murder mystery and, to its credit, it is exactly that. The book was quick, easy to read, and inoffensive in every possible way. Reading this book was like eating a plain saltine cracker when you’re not even hungry—technically fine, mildly distracting, and immediately forgettable. Nothing stood out—good or bad. It wasn’t especially exciting, surprising, or memorable, but it also wasn’t irritating or poorly written. It simply… existed. I always struggle with how to rate books like this. There wasn’t a single thing I actively liked or disliked. It did what it set out to do, caused me no emotional distress, and asked very little of me as a reader. Three stars feels fair. Just don’t ask me a single question about the plot or characters, because I have already forgotten everything about it.”
“It was fine! Nothing terrible but not my favorite mystery. I mean it was a cozy mystery there’s nothing really more to say lol. I did love the Nashville scenery though. 🤍”
“4.5⭐️ I’m ashamed to say it took me way too long to get to this wonderful series on my tbr; but I picked it up at just the right time since the story starts out in May. I’ll have to go back and read the first two in the series. I’ve tried Kelly’s Mountain Lodge series and really enjoyed it, this book was no exception. The author’s writing is fast paced and humorous which kept me turning the pages. The murder happened early on, the sleuthing was excellent, and the mystery kept me guessing and second guessing myself. The chapter titles added a fun touch and a little mystery at the beginning of each. Sawdust’s (the cat) pov contributed a cute touch that I recognized from the other series I’ve read. I look forward to reading more of this series. Diane Kelly is, to me, an essential cozy author. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review, and all thoughts are my own. I hope you’ll add this one to your tbr!”
