“I'm not sure how to feel about this book. The chapters are very short. Oftentimes as little as 2 pages, and never more than 5. This does make it very easy and quick to read. There's also a lot of different POVs going on. Most are written in third person, and it took me a while to realise I actually hated Savage's first person POV. Something about the writing style in his chapters was very unappealing to me.
I didn't feel submerged in the story. I was just being told whatever happened next, but I wasn't in it at all. On top of that I did not feel the love between Doc and Kira. This as well was just being told in my experience. However, this might have to do with the fact I didn't read the first book in this series.
Towards the ending I was starting to genuinely enjoy this book. But then the last 30 or so pages came around. To me the ending felt very rushed and unbelievable. And again, I just did not connect with the characters in this part.
Overall; not necessarily a bad book, but I wouldn't recommend it.”
“this was such an amazing book!! i was in a reading slump and so picked this up of off my bookshelf not thinking much of it but it was so good! the pace was perfect, and i was constantly glued to my seat reading it!! definitely recommend if you like james bond type stuff + if you're in a reading slump :)))”
“Another great book from James Patterson! His writing is so captivating that I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time. My heart’s pounding so fast as the story unfolds and it’s getting more and more exciting! I really appreciated the short chapters as they make it easier to read and makes it feel like a quick read. The most enticing part of the book is undoubtedly the characters. Both Professor Brandt Savage (Doc Savage) and Kira Sunlight are thrown into a reality-inspired apocalypse where the deadliest weapons are THE masterminds themselves. Needless to say, I was blown away with the challenges they’re fixed to face but at the same time, beyond impressed by how much Doc Savage and Kira are willing to sacrifice just to get back to each other. All in all, Murder Island is a never miss for thriller/Mystery fans and a good start for those who are not. It pulled me in from the beginning!”
