More Than Enough
ByPublisher Description
A woman confronts the surprising results of an ancestry test and begins to question the meaning of family and friendship in this wise, tender novel teeming with life—from the beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author of After Annie
No one knows you like your book club.
High school English teacher Polly Goodman can talk about everything and anything with the women in her book club, which is why they’ve become her closest friends and, along with her veterinarian husband, the bedrock of her life. Her students, her fraught relationship with her mother, her struggles with IVF—Polly’s book club friends have heard about it all.
But when they give Polly an ancestry test kit as a joke, the results match her with a stranger. It is clear to Polly that this match is a mistake, but still she cannot help but comb through her family history for answers. Then, when it seems that the book club circle of four will become three, Polly learns how friendships can change your life in the most profound ways.
Written with Anna Quindlen’s trademark warmth, humor, and insight into the power of love and hope, More Than Enough explores how we find ourselves again and again through the relationships that define us.

“When Polly Goodman's book club trio give her a DNA test as a joke, her life suddenly becomes an emotional roller coaster. Toss in a few other major challenges life has thrown at her and now her emotional roller coaster is out of control.
What ensues is a story of searching for your identity, meeting what she refers to as "non-family" due to what she believes are faulty DNA results, and a deeper look into her own family and its history. Relationships are a major theme of More Than Enough as are friendships and how they impact your life whether new or old friends.
Polly's story is filled with tender moments, laughter, tears, humor, honesty, and aha moments as she moves through her daily life while on her own personal roller coaster. Her constants in her life are the keys to her success in facing each challenge with the love and support of her husband, book club friends, and her brother.
I love how the title, More Than Enough, refers to so many different aspects of Polly's story and how she comes to this realization that her life is enough, even if not how she planned. Hers is a story of hope, love, friendship, grief, and coming to terms with live events over which no one has control.
Thank you, NetGalley, Random House, and Anna Quindlen for the opportunity to read this advance reader copy.”

“I received an advanced copy of this book.
3.5 stars
I would describe this book as a warm read... warm characters, warm relationships, and strong companionship as the adults face the regular challenges in life while finding support from friends and family along the way. Based on the summary of the story, I expected more focus on DNA test results and unknown family members, but it did not feel like this was the primary story line.”

“Another winner by Anna Quindlen. A beautiful story of a woman named Polly in her early 40s who has been trying to conceive for years. She has a wonderful husband whom she adores and who adores her and has been at her side every step of the way through the highs and lows of their journey to have a baby. Polly has a job she loves as an English teacher at an all-girls school and 3 great friends who are always there for her - especially Sarah. All seems to be going well until she submits a saliva test to a company that provides results about your ancestors - but something is wrong, things don’t add up, now she isn’t sure who she is or who her family is. A beautiful story of discovery, of finding your true self, and what family really means.”

“Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC of this novel. I love Anna Quindlen's writing and have read most of her novels. This is another beautifully written story about love, family , secrets, and hope. Polly and her husband have been trying to conceive for years and are coming to the point of making a decision of what comes next. She receives a DNA kit as a present from her book club and the results change her life beyond what she would ever expect. The characters are so vividly written. There is a lot going on in this story but this gives way to really know Polly and her life”
