“I loved this book. It was exciting and slightly outrageous (but this series is), amazing characters as usual!
The only reason this book did not get a 5 star review is one extremely disturbing scene that I could’ve done without to be honest.”
“An absolute thriller through and through. It’s insane how slept on this series is. I’m feeling torn between this and Speaks the Nightbird as my favorite Matthew Corbett yet but I feel like I want to give the nod to Mister Slaughter, as the pacing is nearly perfect. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and once it gets going, it’s relentless. Some genuinely hard scenes to read, but masterfully crafted. I think where this book shines though is the usage of side characters. Every single one is so well-written, memorable, and integral that at times Matthew feels like he’s on more of an even ground with the rest of the cast in the best way. Can’t wait to continue this series and if you haven’t heard of this series or started it, do yourself a favor and pick up Speaks the Nightbird!
