Read this on a recommendation from a Bookish group for the holidays. In my Hockey Romance era and this scratches the holiday itch. There was a lot of missed and crossed messages between the two characters; classic friends to lovers that always leads to that third act breakup. But the spice is nice on the ice! I liked the characters in the background; the banter from the teammates off the ice, thw relationship with friends and family and especially the daughter. And the realism of dad's fear of breaking his daughter's heart by trying to mend his... honesty in romance novels is gold. But I did love how through the matchmaking and practice dating and "fake-dating" Isla and Rowan's relationship seemed to grow even if they were clueless idiots about each other's feelings. It felt real, and the town was a classic Hallmark Movie town with endless festivities, decorations, and that everyone knows everyone vibe. Over all, 3-3.5 stars.”
