Publisher Description

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

A People Magazine Pick * US Weekly “Must” Pick * Named “Best Book of the Summer” by Glamour * Good Housekeeping * USA TODAY * Cosmopolitan * PopSugar * Working Mother * Bustle * Goodreads

A breathtaking new novel about a young woman whose fate hinges on the choice she makes after bumping into an old flame; in alternating chapters, we see two possible scenarios unfold—with stunningly different results.

At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving yet another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.

Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?

In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Is anything meant to be? How much in our life is determined by chance? And perhaps, most compellingly: Is there such a thing as a soul mate?

Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“Hannah is almost 30 and still has no idea what she’s doing or where she belongs. After a breakup she decides to move back to Los Angles, where she grew up and her best friend Gabby lives. To celebrate her return they go out clubbing and there Hannah meets Ethan her high school boyfriend. When Gabby has to leave she has a decision to make. Stay at the club with Ethan or go home. From there the book divides into two paths and the reader gets to follow along with both universes. This is the first book I’ve read where I feel the multiple universe theory worked great. It’s not confusing, the two paths are very different and TJR’s take is just amazing. The belief that no matter which path you take you’ll end up where you’re meant to be. With the person that makes you happy. If you read it I highly suggest you check out some articles/interviews with her because the way she describes what inspired the book just makes it even better. I don’t want to spoil anything but I’ll just quickly mention the triggers. Car accident, divorce, loss of a pregnancy and cheating. Hanna struggles with different things but one thing that’s constant is her friendships with Gabby. And her love for cinnamon rolls. That’s just to sweet. Relationships come and go but good friendships survive. This is a must read in my opinion, absolutely amazing. Probably my new favorite book by Taylor.”

Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“I think I have found a new favourite author I inhale her stories so fast I don’t even know how I’m doing it. Great concept. And I just love how TJR writes (found) family. I love Henry.”
